Federal and provincial health ministers were expected to sign an agreement today in Moncton related to increasing access for substance abuse treatment.
However, the events in Fredericton led to a swift cancellation of the news conference.

Federal health minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor expressed thoughts and prayers to those affected by the incident.
“Being a Monctonian, we certainly have an appreciation of what the city is going through and we certainly want to be very supportive and be there for them during their time of need,” she noted.
The health care-related news conference is expected to be held at a later date.
