A few more details are being released about Friday’s fatal shooting of two police officers and two civilians in Fredericton.
City Police Chief Leanne Fitch was asked what kind of gun was used.
“We can confirm that it was a long gun that was used, the shooter was in an elevated position, and we aren’t going to release further details beyond that at this time,” says Fitch. “But it was a long gun, and [the shooter] was situated in an elevated position.”
Fitch says they are still working to determine what link, if any, exists between the victims and the alleged shooter.
She also clarified some confusion about the number of injured.
“There were a total of five people involved in the shooting that were injured, there were four fatally wounded, two officers, two citizens,” says Fitch. “The suspect was injured in the gunfire with police.”
