If you are a motorist who travels in the area of the Gunningsvile Bridge in the morning, you may have experienced some slow downs.
Frustrations are building for those who use the Hillsborough Road and Coverdale Road intersection in the morning, due to construction
The road is being widened and new left turn lanes are being added. This comes before the Causeway is closed in 2020 for four to six months, while they continue work on the new bridge.
Mayor Ann Seamans asks that everyone be patient, “We were preparing for this, and we knew it would be hard. We spent extra money on this project to have the work done at night. Work begins at 7pm and runs until morning. During the day, it is still a construction site, but no one is working.”
She adds that the work being done is only temporary, and it needed to be done, and she adds things could get worse for a bit because the lights have to be replaced.
“The biggest thing I can say is be patient, because the work will be completed by August 31st Give yourself some extra time, and regulate when you are travelling, that would be great,” Seamans says.
