Wildfires in British Columbia are being fought with the help of New Brunswick Firefighters…
Around 28 New Brunswick firefighters have been helping battle the blazes in BC for about a week now, and they’re expected to return home on Saturday.
Wildfire prevention Officer Roger Collett says he has been speaking to crews, and they say it is very smoky and that is slowing their work down, “They move around with helicopters, so the smoke might be limiting the flight times, but they are working on basically holding the lines on fires that aren’t moving anymore and making sure they don’t reignite. They are basically trying to steer the fires away from communities.”
Around 600 Wildfires are burning, and the province is under a state of emergency. Air quality advisories have also been issued due to the amount of smoke.
Thousands of residents have been evacuated.
