Greater Moncton River of Pride has been having trouble getting sustainable funding to offer programs and workshops year-round – not just during Pride Week.
Committee president Zivi Richard says that’s why registration fees for parade entries and the park fair have been introduced this year.
“We actually have a different scale depending on the size of your organization. It’s pretty difficult for us to get all-year funding,” she notes.
Richard says the issue is not unique to Moncton and notes how pride committees across Canada face the same struggle.
The Greater Moncton Pride Parade gets underway at 1:30 Saturday afternoon (August 25) in downtown Moncton from Foundry to Downing Streets.
