He was one of the best fiddlers in the country and he has passed away. Frederick Lawrence “Ned” Landry died on the weekend at the age of 97. Landry was born in Saint John in 1921.
His musical career began at the early age of four and eventually he had a recording career for RCA through the 50, 60’s and 70’s.
He was three-time Canadian Open Fiddle Champion, named to the Order of Canada and joined the NB Country music hall of fame in 1983.
Visitation is at Brenan’s Funeral Home August 27 from 6- 8 PM and again on August 28, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial takes place August 29 at 12 noon at St. Pius X Church.
