A newly elected Progressive Conservative government will do all it can to avoid New Brunswickers being saddled with a federally imposed carbon tax.
Leader Blaine Higgs says he would be joining both Saskatchewan and Ontario in the court to fight Justin Trudeau’s carbon tax.
But if one is imposed he would make sure people in the province get refunds in the form of tax relief so they are not out of pocket.
Higgs is also calling for the growth of renewable energy capabilities but at the same time continuing to meet or exceed our emission targets.
Higgs says the Gallant Liberals will impose a carbon tax to help pay for the $1.3 billion in spending announcements made since January.
