Gallant addressed the Legislature following the third and final vote.
“I would like to advise the house that I will go see the Lieutenant Governor at her earliest convenience to inform her that I will be resigning as Premier, and I will humbly suggest to her, to her honour, to allow the leader of the Conservative Party to attempt to form a government and gain the confidence of the house,” Gallant said.
After the vote was held there was silence in the house, not the usual cheering and clapping.
Progressive Conservative leader Blaine Higgs telling reporters he’s excited to get going and People’s Alliance Leader Kris Austin says they will work with the Tories but on a bill by bill basis.
Brian Gallant is expected to meet with Lieutenant-Governor Jocelyne Roy Vienneau later this afternoon.
