Statistics Canada’s latest labour force survey shows some mixed results for New Brunswick’s economy.
According to the report, the province lost roughly 1,000 part-time and 700 full-time jobs in October.
But the unemployment rate went down — to 7.2 per cent from 7.9 per cent in September — as fewer people searched for work.
New Brunswick has seen a net drop of 2,000 jobs over the last year, but the unemployment rate is 0.6 percentage points lower than it was last October.
Nationally, the unemployment rate fell to 5.8 per cent as employment remained nearly unchanged and fewer people searched for work.
