With just over a month to go until Christmas, many kids are getting anxious for the official arrival of Santa Claus.
Vice President Alex Morton says the kids won’t have to wait as long this year watching the parade as they have in previous years.
“At last count, we were looking at around 70. It is a little shorter this year, but it is also good because when it got up to the 120 range, it was then over two hours of people standing in the cold waiting for Santa. One thing they wanted to make sure was that the parade was for the kids and that they all got to see Santa,” Morton says.
There will be extra security for this year’s parade after concerns were raised by RCMP and Fire officials in the past.
As for what the weather will be like for parade day this year, Morton jokingly said they are in negotiations with Mother Nature, “Xavier has been on the phone almost daily asking for weather, and I think there has probably been a mix-up because they seem to be trying to get it all out of their system this week. So hopefully for next week it will be absolutely perfect.”
