Homelessness, and how to help those in poverty is going to be a major topic of discussion at tonight’s Moncton City Council meeting.
After the last two weeks, which saw a homeless tent city shut down, and a substantial winter storm, City Councillors are looking at what immediate steps can be taken.
Councillor Paul Pellerin intends to put forward a motion asking for $20,000 in city funds to be set aside to help shelters and groups that need to increase their capacity.
Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold took to Facebook two weekends ago, asking for the public to submit any ideas or suggestions they might have to help those living in poverty and the homeless.
Council begins at 5 o’clock at City Hall – and all members of the public are welcome to attend.
