The New Brunswick RCMP Major Crime Unit is working with Codiac RCMP to investigate the shooting in Dieppe Saturday afternoon.
Police say the occupant of the vehicle involved in a crash took actions threatening first responders who attended the scene.
As a result of those actions, police say an RCMP member fired their weapon at the suspect.
A 25-year old woman from Nova Scotia was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries to the public or first responders.
In addition, the independent agency, the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is going to conduct a review of police actions in response to the incident.
They add this is standard practice, and was also at the request of the New Brunswick RCMP.
The Mounties are advising the public to stay away from the area for most of Sunday, as the roads in the Adélard-Savoie Boulevard area, near the airport, are closed off for the investigation.
