Capitol Theatre has chosen its cast for the upcoming musical production of The Wizard of Oz.
Director Marshall Button says it was the most extensive audition process to date.
45 actors auditioned in in Toronto, and another 65 in Moncton. Button also received 20 video auditions from across the country.
This is the fifth musical theatre production for partners Tutta Musica and Capitol Theatre.

Dorothy – Emma Rudy
Auntie Em / Glinda – Véronique Hébert
Miss Gulch / Witch – Mélanie LeBlanc
Uncle Henry / Guard – Blair Lawrence
Zeke / Lion – Jacob McInnis
Hunk / Scarecrow – Danik McAfee
Hickory / Tinman – Jamie Cordes
Wizard / Marvel – Kevin McIntyre
Many local talented individuals will also be featured in the ensemble of singers, actors and dancers. They include many veterans from past Capitol musicals, such as Emma Vickers, Matt Kinney, Bethany Robertson, Ian McGowan, Annette Crummey, Chris Norris, Michelle Thibodeau. Many more ensemble members, including children, will be added to the cast as production gets underway.
The production team includes many of the best theatre professionals working in the region. Led by Production Director Daniel Basque, they include Kevin McIntyre (Video Designer), Marc Lamontagne (Set Designer) and Andrew Williams (Lighting Designer).
The Wizard of Oz will run from February 22nd to February 29th.
