Renovations are underway at the new Tide and Boar location at the corner of Main and Vaughn Harvey.
Owner Chad Steeves recently announced the expansion he says will allow them to grow their brewing company.
“We always strive to have unique beers, fruity sours, IPAs, weird and crazy pastry stouts but also some classics like the lagers that have done well for us,” he says.
Steeves says they started brewing in the basement of the current location, to test out the business and adds they’ve been looking to expand for a while but just hadn’t found the right place.
“We love the old west-end and with the new condo going up across the street, new hotels in the area and of course the Avenir Centre nearby, it just made sense,” he says.
While the current location will stay open, Steeves says the expansion will allow them to sell their brews in take-away form.
“We only carry it on tap at the pub right now, other than a keg the occasional spot around town. We get asked all the time about taking our beer home, people really want to be able to fill up growlers or have cans so with the new facility we’ll be able to do that,” he says.
He says the new location will have more of a neighbourhood-style environment and Steeves says to keep an eye on their website for the new menu.
As part of the announcement, they have a number of one-time offers to help cover renovation costs, including the chance to brew your own beer alongside Steeves.
