The Moncton Wildcats 2019/2020 season is officially over.
The QMJHL League announced last night after monitoring the coronavirus outbreak and the spread over the last two weeks, they made the decision to cancel the 2020 President Cup Playoffs.
The Commissioner and the Assembly of Members said the risks of the playoffs became too high. The latest updates and advice shared by the Provincial and Federal public health agencies made it clear that it was inconceivable to play these games.
“This is one of the toughest decisions that we have had ever to make,” said Commissioner Gilles Courteau. “But as the situation continued to evolve over the past couple of days, it became almost impossible to consider a scenario in which the playoffs would be played. These are extremely challenging times for our society and this situation is bigger than hockey and that’s the reason why we have to make responsible decisions.”
