Over the weekend, the Magnetic Hill Zoo presented their newest resident.
The zoo took to social media to introduce a baby gibbon, who was born in November of 2019.
Zoo director Jill Marvin says the 5-and-a-half-month-old is gaining some independence and even sitting on his own.
“He stays beside mom but he’ll let his hand go so he’s progressing to a stage that he’s becoming a just little more independent. So he’s not clinging to mom with both arms all the time and starting to venture off a little on his own,” she says.
Visitors will soon be able to see the new baby, following the premier’s announcement about zoos reopening.
Marvin says they will need some time to implement public health guidelines before announcing an opening date.
