The City of Moncton and CUPE Local 51 have a collective agreement.
Moncton City Council voted last night to pass the six year deal, that will see wage increases of 8.75 per cent over six years.
Eight casual positions were also converted to permanent status.
“We feel both parties have reached a fair and reasonable agreement that will help the municipality navigate the current fiscal realities”, stated Jeff Preston, Director of Human Resources. “Members of CUPE Local 51 deliver essential services to Moncton residents, and their work is valued.”
CUPE Local 51 represents around 200 permanent and casual employees, including water maintenance, snow and ice control, operation of parks and arenas, and the Magnetic Hill Zoo..
They have been without a deal since December 31, 2018.
