The federal government is providing a funding boost to a Sackville bakery.
Kookie Kutter Bakery will receive $180, 000 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency that will be used to purchase new manufacturing equipment.
President and Distribution Office Manager Gilles Comeau says “The Kookie Kutter Bakery, located in Sackville New Brunswick, is known for our famous Ginger Snaps. The bakery has been making this delicious healthy snack with only eight simple natural ingredients for more than 25 years. Thanks to the support from our partners like ACOA and the Government of New Brunswick, our famous Ginger Snap is poised to become a national product and continues our expansion into grocery stores throughout the New England States.”
The new machinery that will be purchased includes cutting machines and ovens, to improve the company’s production capacity.
It will also allow them to create eight new jobs over the next five years.
“The food sector is an essential industry in Atlantic Canada. By helping food and beverage-based businesses to not only survive, but thrive, we are ensuring that our food sector is well-positioned to play a major role in Canada’s economic recovery. This support will help Kookie Kutter Bakery innovate and pursue new business opportunities – creating jobs, driving the local economy, and strengthening the sector as a whole,” says President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and Beausejour MP Dominic Leblanc.
