Environment Canada Meteorologist Jeremy March says a snowfall warning was issued yesterday afternoon for parts of the province including Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick, Saint John and Fundy, “The storm pushed into the southern part of the province after midnight, but it is moving quite rapidly. The snow that is happened right now, is expected to taper off to some flurries, probably by 9 or 10 o’clock this morning.”
The snowfall warning was lifted at around 7:40am.
He says, “As of 5am local time, the airport was reporting six centimetres of snow. We have an automatic station in Fundy National Park and that one is reporting 15 centimetres. So, definitely any snow that is falling in Moncton will persist for another few hours.”
The plows are now out, but motorists are still advised to slow down.
March says, “Temperature right now is around zero or minus 1, but they will rise up above zero later this morning. Then when the system moves off to the east, and winds come around to the west, the temperatures this afternoon will be plus 2 to plus 4. It will actually feel nice given the cold temperatures we’ve had.”
