Another person is announcing their intentions to run in Ward 2 in the upcoming municipal election.
Daniel Bourgeois previously served in Ward 3 on Moncton City Council from 2008 to 2016.
He says he didn’t run in the last election, because he feels members of Council should not serve more than two mandates in a row.
Bourgeois says some of the things he initiated during his previous eight years on Council include a cap on the tax rate, a review of police services, an increase in affordable housing units, and improvements in public transit.
Bourgeois says residents need Councillors they can trust to follow through, to be accountable for their actions and to make decisions based on citizens’ needs rather than their personal interests, “Council is not always transparent with city residents on how it makes decisions and spends their taxes. I never shied from fighting City Hall on behalf of citizens and I look forward to doing it again. I have never been, nor will I ever be a ‘yes’ man.”
Daniel Bourgeois holds a PhD in Public Policy Analysis, a Masters in Public Administration and an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Economics. He has been married to Anne Bernard-Bourgeois since 1992. The couple has two adult sons, Alexandre and Jérémie.
Municipal elections will be held on May 10th.
