Flights to sunny destinations are being planned for early next year out of airports in Atlantic Canada.
Sunwing has announced it will resume flying to vacation spots including Cancun, Cuba and Dominican Republic.
President and CEO of the Greater Moncton International Airport Bernard Leblanc says this is a positive news, “What Sunwing has announced so far for next year is, it would start fairly early, on February 10th and go all the way to May 7th or so. So I can see a strong demand for people wanting to travel to those destinations.”
Leblanc says even in the pandemic, travellers may feel comfortable booking ahead., “Especially if the airlines are cognizant that there may need to be changes and they will allow them to make changes to their bookings. There were a lot of people who had their flights cancelled last year, who may have credits to book. So I think there could be quite a big demand. “Especially if they know airlines are flexible with changing dates.”
Leblanc says it is definitely a positive announcement, but he is cautiously optimistic because of the challenges travel has faced over the past year.
Returning flights to Moncton will include:
-Between Moncton and Cancun, Thursdays from February 10, 2022 until May 5, 2022
-Between Moncton and Montego Bay, Sundays from February 13, 2022 until May 8, 2022
-Between Moncton and Puerto Plata, Fridays from February 11, 2022 until May 6, 2022
-Between Moncton and Punta Cana, Saturdays from February 12, 2022 until May 7, 2022
-Between Moncton and Varadero, Fridays from February 11, 2022 until May 6, 2022
“We’re thrilled to be returning to Atlantic Canada for another winter season,” commented Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing Travel Group. “After a difficult year, we’re sure that Canadians will be eager to return to paradise and enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation. We’re excited to be able to help them enjoy a frictionless vacation experience with convenient flights from local gateways across the region.”
