It’s expected to be fairly busy for Parlee Beach’s opening weekend.
Park Manager Michel Mallet says they’ve been making improvements to the park over the past couple of years..
Last year, they upgraded the main Parlee Beach Road, and they’ve been busy this spring with other infrastructure, “What we call a comfort station which is an accessible washroom, changing room hot shower and outside shower as well that is located in the centre of the park. Part of that plan as well, is an accessible and inclusive playground.”
He says these improvements have been needed for a couple of years now, “People needed to go to the East and West end for washrooms facilities and now they will have an option in the middle as well. It is also part of an accessible plan I drafted in 2019 with Ability NB to ensure Parlee Beach is as accessible as possible.”
Parlee Beach typically opens every year on the May long weekend.
Mallet says, “It’s a fairly busy weekend. Also we have a campground with 210 sites and rustic cabins that is opening. Normally we start to see a influx of traffic flow in the campground the first weekend.”
Also new this summer, Mallet says they have new licensed terraces on the east end and west ends of the beach with food and beverage. Those will open on June 9th.
He says they also plan to have a campfire on the east end of the beach, which will offer New Brunswick ambience and local product.
