The Codiac Regional Policing Authority recently released the results for the fourth quarter of 2020.
It includes how the Codiac detachment faired throughout the year in comparison to the goals that were set.
An initial finding indicates that 94% of residents felt safe in their neighbourhood last year, tied for the highest percentage in the last five years.
There was an improvement in the number of non-fatal and fatal traffic collisions; However, Charles Savoie, Director of strategic planning and policing support services, believes that some statistics may only show improvement due to the pandemic.
In 2020, there were 7,193 property crimes, higher than the aggressive 7,057 goal set ahead of the year. According to the RCMP, property crime includes burglary and vandalism, among other illegal acts, but the most popular in Greater Moncton has been mischief.
