Two sisters from Moncton have created a clothing line with even more of a purpose.
Twenty-year-old Ashley Hamilton of Moncton says she came up with the idea with her 16 year old sister Emily, “Me and my sister have seen locally and nationally, the unfair treatment and discrimination that happens in our community and in the world. We really want to make a change and impact our community so that is basically how we came up with the idea.”
Their objective is to promote and support equality for all.
“Equality is a clothing brand that promotes equality for all. We put our logo on hoodies, t-shirts, ball caps, long sleeves, you name it. We just really want to create clothing with purpose,” Hamilton says.
The goal is to offer clothing that can make a difference and a portion of all of the sales are given to local organizations.
“A portion of our profits are donated to local organizations that promote equal. Recently, through Boys and Girls Club of Moncton, we sponsored two kids for the TH Summer basketball program, and we also are doing a fundraiser where we are selling t-shirts and all of our profits are being donated to two high school students in need,” Hamilton says.
The idea for their business came last summer, and they have been building the brand from there, “We came up our logo, our concept and what we really wanted to put out to the community. Since then, it has been growing and we really launched this spring.”
To this point, their clothing has been offered through Pop Up shops, markets and online stores.
Their hope is to continue growing their brand, and potentially even open their own store in the future.
