An upcoming fundraiser for the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre will be critical since it’s the only one being held during the pandemic.
The annual Run for Women will take place virtually again this year and the 5K or 10K can be completed between July 4 and 11.
The Centre offers counselling and support to those suffering from mental health issues and to victims of family violence in southeast New Brunswick.
CEO Kristal LeBlanc says the fundraiser will helpĀ keep the facility operating and support a trauma-specialized daycare which is being planned.
“When is it more important than post-pandemic. We know that women will be the response to economic recovery for COVID-19 and the run-walk for women is such an amazing experience.”
LeBlanc says she urges participants to get together with friends, family and coworkers and split up the run over a few days and make it a routine.
“I’m going to go out and get my my one kilometre because I’m doing this for women who are victims of domestic violence and I’m doing this, more importantly, for their children so they don’t become victims themselves or become perpetrators in the future.”
