The City of Dieppe is committing $1.3 million to overhaul a parking lot in the downtown area.
Located on Gauvin Road, the lot is bordered by Champlain Street, Marche Street and College Street.
The infrastructure project will include paving of the gravel surface, as well as the additions of sidewalks and lighting.
Bioretention cells will also be constructed in the form of greens spaces to help surface water treatment and quality.
“We are very pleased to develop this parking lot to provide a safe, quality space for downtown customers. The bioretention cells will also serve as an example to be replicated elsewhere in the municipality,” explains Rémi Babin, senior engineer with the city.
The downtown customers Babin refers to will not be without available parking spots due to the over 700 free spaces located in the downtown area.
The lot will be closed for construction beginning this week, with a re-opening set for September.
