Not everyone has been obeying the flyer distribution rules, even after a by-law went into effect in 2020.
Before the by-law passed, one of the concerns was residents reported flyers were left unsecured and ended up blowing around on the street.
The City of Moncton passed the by-law in February last year but it was made official in April of 2020.
Since then, City spokesperson Austin Henderson says they have issued 60 fines ranging from $140 to $560 each.
He says the fines depend on the specifics of the situation, but they run as high as $2100.

The by-law stipulates that a resident can post a sign to refuse the delivery of flyers to their home.
It also states that flyers must be delivered in a mailbox, mail slot, on a doorstep or in a tube or other receptacle designed for this purpose.
Before the by-law passed, concerns were also brought forth from residents who said they shouldn’t be forced to accept flyers they didn’t want.
