The theft of catalytic converters from vehicles continues to be a problem across the country including here in Greater Moncton.
Codiac RCMP acting superintendent Ron DeSilva told Moncton City Council on Monday that officers arrested three individuals for this type of theft last week.
“We’re hoping that has some impact. I realize it’s not as many as we’d like to see arrested for this because there is probably significantly more. The three should be going to court shortly. I think one was detained.”
Catalytic converters form part of a vehicle’s exhaust system.
The precious metals inside like rhodium, palladium and platinum are valuable making them a target for thieves.
