A 15-year-old youth from Riverside-Albert is facing charges after several incidents in Greater Moncton.
Late morning on Easter Monday, Codiac RCMP were called about a pickup truck which was stolen from a business at Archibald and Dufferin Streets.
A short time later, officers spotted the truck travelling on Coverdale Road but the driver wouldn’t stop after a brief high-speed chase.
Police say the driver was heading in the wrong direction over a blind hill at times and they chose not to pursue it.
The truck was later found on a dirt road and officers used a spike belt to finally stop the vehicle.
The driver tried to run away but was arrested moments later.
On Tuesday in provincial court, the youth was charged with assault with a weapon, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and theft over $5,000.
The teenager, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, remains in custody with another court appearance scheduled for this week.
