It’s hoped an expansion at a Moncton Legion will bring more people back into public spaces.
Renovations are underway after Branch #6 received a federal investment of $33, 057 through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund.
The CCRF was launched in June 2021.
It is being used to expand its community room, making the space accessible to individuals with disabilities and mobility issues.
These improvements will also provide the legion more opportunities to host community events.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 6 sincerely appreciates the assistance and support to the seniors and veterans in our community,” said President Robert Dupuis.
An additional investment of $24,212 through the New Horizons for Seniors program will also help the Legion deliver its Keeping Active and Safe program, which provides seniors with classes and resources to increase their awareness of fraud and abuse and provides help navigating forms and applications.
Strong, vibrant communities in New Brunswick are a critical part of a robust and inclusive economic recovery. Investing in shared spaces like the Royal Canadian Legion facility in Moncton helps revitalize local economies, boosts tourism, creates jobs, and gives residents a place to come together safely,” added Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
