An 18-year-old man from Moncton has been charged with first degree murder in connection with the death of Joedin Leger.
RCMP responded to a call for shots fired outside a home on Logan Lane on April 25 shortly after 6 a.m.
Police say a young man suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Another person was inside the home during the incident but was not hurt.
The victim was identified as 18-year-old Joedin Leger.
An 18-year-old man from Moncton was arrested last week on an unrelated matter but through the investigation, police determined he was involved in the homicide.
On June 14, Riley Phillips appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with first degree murder.
He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on June 27 at 11 a.m.
“These types of investigations have many complexities. The RCMP would like to thank the community for their patience and support while we continue investigating this incident,” said Cpl. Hans Ouellette with the New Brunswick RCMP.
“Our thoughts are with Joedin Leger’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
