Over 830 runners and walkers in Moncton showed their support at Centennial Park for women’s mental health.
The LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart 5K/10K Run for Women was held yesterday to raise money for the Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Centre.
Participants in Southeast New Brunswick raised $111, 000, to be used to help build awareness and for support services offered.

Executive Director for the Centre Kristal Leblanc says following the pandemic, the Centre has seen a 30 percent increase in demand for services for victims of domestic violence and their children needing services.
For the first time ever, the organization now has a waitlist for its counseling services.
This year proceeds from the local run will support the ongoing development of the “Little Courageous” trauma-informed daycare at the Courage Centre – only the second trauma-specialized daycare centre in North America. This specialized resource will help children learn and grow while addressing the impact of a wide range of traumas, including experiencing or witnessing abuse in their own homes – while at the same time also allowing mothers of young children to participate in the
counseling services and programs, they also need to heal.
This is the first time in three years that the event has been held in person in Moncton, due to the pandemic.
Donations can be made until July 1st.
