A 60-year-old Moncton man has been charged in connection with an investigation into images of child sexual abuse.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit began the investigation in April 2022 following information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC).
On November 8, 2022, RCMP carried out a search warrant at a home in Moncton as part of the investigation where police seized several electronic devices.
A 60-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later released on conditions, pending a future court appearance.
On February 2 in Moncton Provincial Court, the individual was charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.
He is scheduled to return to court on May 23.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force.
The RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services Unit and members from the Codiac Regional RCMP are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
