The Moncton Flyers are on the road this week to play in the annual CCM Challenge Tournament.
The tournament is taking place in Chateauguay, Que., and features the 15 teams from the Quebec AAA Under-18 league.
The Moncton Flyers (NB), Saint John Vito’s (NB), Kensington Wild (PEI), Ontario Hockey Academy (ON) and Edmonton Okanagan Hockey Academy (AB) were the five teams invited to play.
“It’s a great opportunity for our team to see what hockey is like at that level. These teams will be really good, and this will be a good test for us to see where we are for the rest of the season,” said Flyers Coach John DeCourcey.
This tournament is used by general managers and scouts from junior teams, including those from the QMJHL.
“We’ll play some teams that have Q draft picks in their lineup, that were probably drafted last year and back playing in the U18 league, and probably play against teams that were drafted by those teams this year. The games will be competitive, so hopefully, it will set our team up for the better half of the year,” continued Coach DeCourcey.
The tournament begins Wednesday and continues through Sunday. More details can be found by clicking here.
