You may be planning to travel home for the holiday season.
There are a few things you should consider before heading to the airport.
Greater Moncton International Airport spokesperson Sheila Lagacé says the holiday season is always one of the busiest times at YQM.
She recommends giving yourself lots of extra time when heading to the airport.
“We always recommend to travellers to arrive early at the airport. Usually, it’s standard if you’re travelling within Canada, to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before and 180 minutes before the flight if you’re flying internationally, so you can properly check in go through security and ensure that you’re not delayed,” Lagacé says.
You can also check-in for your flight online before heading to the airport at your airline website or on their app.
Winter weather can also be unpredictable, so you should always check your flight status on the airport website, she says.
“If you’re bringing presents gifts for your loved ones, don’t wrap them and put them in your luggage. If the content of a wrapped gift needs to be inspected at the security screening, it will be unwrapped. So we recommend that you wrap your gift at your destination,” says Lagacé.
“Also, find out in advance what you can and cannot bring through security screening. Also, know your airline baggage requirements because it can be different for different airlines.”
