The director of the Acadie Rock Festival in Moncton said they accomplished so much at this year’s event.
“Our goal this year was to make Acadie Rock even more diverse, lively and colourful,” Xavier Richard said on Monday.
“With some 60 artists showcased at this 13th edition, we embodied perfectly the vision we wanted to put in place.”
An estimated 10,000 visitors were expected to attend this year’s six-day festival, which wrapped up on Sunday evening.
Now preparations are underway for the 14th festival and Richard aims to blend Acadian heritage with modern elements to appeal to younger generations at next year’s festival.
“The reflection within the team and myself this year was Acadie is more of a sentiment than specific people or a specific group of people,” he said.
“It’s crucial that the festival continues to honour our rich heritage while incorporating contemporary elements that resonate with the values and aspirations of new generations.”
For example, 2025 will be a poignant milestone, marking 20 years since the death of GĂ©rald Leblanc, a legendary Acadian poet and a key figure in Acadian culture. Richard insists that it is essential to pay homage to this literary stalwart in the festival’s upcoming 14th edition.
In the meantime, the programming committee is planning to meet in the coming months to outline the preparations for the 14th edition, while the dates remain undecided.
