A death on White Head Island is no longer being treated as suspicious by New Brunswick RCMP.
Officers were called to a home in the community, located off Grand Manan Island, last Wednesday morning.
“When police entered the residence they located a 45-year-old man from the community deceased in the home,” RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette said in an interview at the time.
“At this time, police are treating this death as suspicious in nature and an autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death of this individual.”
When reached for an update on Tuesday, Cpl. Jayson Hansen told our newsroom that the autopsy was completed in Halifax on Friday.
Based on the results, Hansen said police determined the death was not suspicious or criminal in nature.
The officer would not say what led investigators to think the man’s death was suspicious in the first place.
Hansen said the man’s cause of death remains under investigation by Coroner Services.
