If you take the bus in Greater Moncton, you may soon notice some adjustments.
Codiac Transpo is making a series of service changes that take effect on Sunday, Sept. 1.
The 61 Elmwood, 64 Hospitals, 66 Caledonia and 94 Centrale routes will see full weekday schedule changes.
Early morning and late afternoon service trips will be added to the 61 Elmwood, 64 Hospitals and 94 Centrale routes on weekdays.
The 53 Mapleton route will be discontinued and its two hours of service will be added to the 50 Red Line.
Time adjustments will be made on the 62 Hildegard due to new traffic calming measures on Twin Oaks Drive. The 94 Centrale route will also see time adjustments on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, the 51 Green Line and 60 Bessborough will undergo route extensions and complete schedule changes. As a result, several stops on both routes will be relocated.
For the 51 Green Line, the route will stretch north on Mountain Road, extending just beyond Magnetic Hill Zoo.
Northbound buses will access Plaza Boulevard via Mountain Road instead of Mapleton Road, and the bus stop will be relocated to the south side of Plaza. Buses travelling downtown will continue to depart from the north side of Plaza Boulevard.
As a result of the changes, stops on Mapleton Road will now be serviced by 65 Killam instead.
The following bus stops will be relocated:
- 587 Mountain Road (M0720) to 551 Mountain Road (one block away)
- 651 Mountain Road (M0794) to 681 Mountain Road (one block away)
- 735 Mountain Road (M0240) to 803 Mountain Road (two blocks away)
For the 60 Bessborough, the bus will travel down Millennium Boulevard, right on Russ Howard Drive, onto the traffic circle, exit on Killam Drive and left to loop back on Millennium Boulevard.
“These changes aim to benefit youth accessing sports facilities on Russ Howard Drive and residents in the Croasdale and Grand Trunk areas, as well as accommodate residents on Millennium Blvd.,” the city said in a news release.
The following bus stops will be relocated:
- St. George Boulevard/Fairview Drive (M0771) to St. George Boulevard/Greenwood Drive (two blocks away)
- 35 Sixth Street (M0283) to Douglas Avenue/Seventh Street (50 metres away)
- Douglas Avenue/Eighth Street (M0772) to Douglas Avenue/Seventh Street (one block away)
