It was all hands on deck today after a call to emergency responders about a dog in the Petitcodiac River.
Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview fire departments responded immediately for a potential rescue and were ready to deploy equipment into the waters if needed.
It happened just before noon on Tuesday.
When firefighters arrived, Riverview Fire and Rescue Chief Robin True said it turns out the dog wasn’t in the water as first reported. He was located on the mud flats west of the Honourable Brenda Robertson Bridge on the Riverview side.
“Two firefighters from Riverview in water rescue gear walked out to retrieve the dog. The dog was successfully returned to his owners, who were on the scene.”
He adds this is the first time in recent memory that they’ve had this type of call.
