An incident near Sunny Brae Middle School in Moncton is under investigation.
An email went out to parents late Thursday afternoon from the Superintendent for the Anglophone East School District.
It stated that on April 8 a student was approached by an unknown male while walking near the school.
“Thanks to the student’s awareness and the swift actions of school staff, the student arrived safely back at school,” the letter from Randolph MacLEAN states.
RCMP have launched an investigation into the matter.
MacLEAN says all schools have been asked to remain vigilant.
”Supervisory staff and teachers, as always, will pay close attention to any unusual behaviour or unfamiliar individuals in the vicinity of school grounds.”
Parents are also being encouraged to review personal safety rules with their kids including never accepting a ride or following someone they don’t know, immediately reporting anything unusual or concerning and travelling in groups whenever possible.
”We are working closely with the RCMP and will continue to monitor the situation,” MacLEAN adds.
