Jéan-Piérré Richard has officially resigned as mayor of Champdoré.
In his resignation statement, Richard explained that his decision was due to differences with the municipal council over how the town should operate.
“My leadership style did not align with the council’s expectations,” he said.
Richard also expressed his gratitude to the citizens, community organizations, and municipal employees for their support during his term.
Richard’s political journey began in May 2016 when he was elected as a municipal councillor.
In May 2021, he became mayor of the Village of Saint-Antoine.
Following the amalgamation of Champdoré in November 2022, Richard was appointed as the town’s first mayor, leading through a transitional period marked by governance reform.
A special municipal council meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the next steps for leadership.
