A new, unique business has opened shop in Dieppe.
Click and Chew is perfect if you’re looking for photographs, but feel awkward with a photographer.
“It’s like a two-part business. We thought about this back in 2022 because we’re from the Philippines, and there is this big thing happening called the DIY photo studio, where customers don’t experience the awkwardness of having a photographer around them when they take photos. It’s just them, a TV, a camera and a remote, and all they do is see themselves in front of the TV, click the remote, and take their pictures. They get to capture their best smiles without the pressure of having someone take their picture,” Co-owner Danielle Nacpil says.
The other part of the business is a cafe, where they are offering things like cookies, cupcakes and other unique international treats, some that aren’t available in New Brunswick.
Click and Chew will officially open at 988 Champlain Street on May 23, but the click studio is open for bookings. It opened around a week before Mother’s Day. The cafe is expected to be open by the end of next week.
So far, things have been a bit slow for the new business as they build up a clientele, and the word officially gets out.
“Trying to introduce this new concept that people don’t know much about, and we’re working to get a lot more volunteers to take sample photos with us, just so it somewhat spreads the word as well. People can see the experience, and how it is,” Co-owner Alex Coombes says.
For the photos, there are six backdrops to choose from, and two photo packages. One is a 15-minute session and the other is 30 minutes. You receive printouts of the photos you choose. How many you get depends on what package you choose.
“For every session, our customers get the digital files they took. In a 15-minute session, you could take around 50. By the end, your face will be tired of smiling,” Nacpil says.
Click and Chew is also pet-friendly for the photo shoots, and your first pet is free.
