A man from Tracadie-Sheila has been charged following a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
RCMP say on Thursday around 6:30 p.m., officers responded to Saulnier West Road in Saumarez.
The victim, a 53-year-old man, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver fled the scene before police arrived.
Shortly after, RCMP arrested him at his residence.
A 33-year-old appeared in Bathurst Provincial Court on Friday by way of tele-remand. He was charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, failure to stop and dangerous driving.
He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on Monday for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
