Moncton’s finest are posing for the camera, in support of a good cause.
They’re creating a 2026 Moncton firefighters calendar to raise funds for the New Brunswick chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
The last calendar created for charity was in 2019, but the department had to pause for several years due to COVID.
“Some people may be aware of our fire prevention calendars, they’re historical ones that are out there, and are educational stuff. This calendar shows how our firefighters train really, really hard to make a good professional calendar. There’s a little bit of extra dieting that goes on in the preparation for it all,” says Corey Gallant, the Communications Officer for the Moncton Firefighters Calendar.
Firefighters are currently being photographed in different spots around Moncton.
“Some photos are at the fire stations, on fire trucks, while others are in other parts of the City. Just kind of switching up the backdrops a little bit,” Gallant says.
Nigel Fearon is the talented photographer who is behind the camera for the 2026 Moncton firefighters calendar. “We’ve worked with him for two editions. He’s an absolutely great, amazing photographer. He does great work and is very open to trying different things. He brings amazing ideas, and it just brings a really good, crisp quality and professionalism to the calendar, “Gallant expressed.
They’re hoping to have all of the shots taken by mid-July and have the calendar ready for printing by August. From there, the hope is to have the calendar ready for sale by the fall.
At this point, Gallant says they’re looking at printing around 1000 calendars, but he admits that sometimes they have to print more based on demand.
With only 12 months in a calendar year, we asked how the firefighters who will appear were chosen
“We’re all just in it for a great cause, so we do have more people than we have pages that will be in the calendar. What we’ve opted to do this year, since there’s so many new faces and new firefighters that’ll be joining this particular calendar, the alumni who’ve done the calendar in the past, we are pairing them up and that way we can fit more people in this particular edition,” Gallant responded.
The calendar will feature both male and female firefighters, both new and veterans, from the department.
The goal is to raise enough money to grant at least two wishes through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“Today, a wish is worth about $10,000. The last time that we did for the Make a Wish Foundation was in 2016 and 2017, and we managed to raise over $25,000, which at the time, was good for just over three wishes,” Gallant told our newsroom.
Those eager to get a calendar when they go on sale in the fall can find them at the Main Street and Trinity Drive Atlantic Superstores, with other locations to be added closer to the release date. Gallant suggests keeping an eye on social media to find out other locations where they will be available for purchase.
If you just can’t wait, keep an eye on Instagram and Facebook for a few sneak peeks of photos and other pop-up events that will be happening in the coming months to help launch the calendar.
