From August 4 to 17, the 14th edition of the Acadie Rock Festival is dedicated to all things Francophone.
Festivities will include a culinary tribute to poet Gérald Leblanc and a celebration of his legacy with special meals at restaurants in southeastern New Brunswick.
This is called Menu de Backyard, and the theme is “Le monde a bien changé”, a nod to the famous song by the band 1755, whose lyrics were written by Leblanc.
Fourteen establishments are taking part, and you can enjoy 17 original items at participating restaurants.
“Basically, it is a huge celebration of Acadian culture and just being very vibrant and joyful about the culture,” Festival Coordinator Marie Julie Bourque says.
Quinze Août will be marked once again at Riverfront Park, with music from Tcheu Misère, Menoncle Jason, Caroline Savoie, and the popular band
Beauxmont.
The annual Tintamarre kicks off just before 6 pm at Moncton City Hall, making its way down to Riverfront Park, where the festivities will continue.
Bourque adds that the Acadia Rock Festival is a huge reminder that the Acadian culture is still going strong, but it is still in danger at the same time. “We’re still here, we’re still loud and we’re here to stay and it’s just to point out the vibrancy of the culture that still lives right now. “
