Alex Warren, who dropped out of Sommo Festival, says he did not choose a different gig instead.
The festival posted on their Facebook page earlier this week that Warren had dropped out because of a “recently booked” schedule conflict. He was set to play the P.E.I. show on Sunday Sept. 14 ahead of headliner Hozier.
But the festival has since removed the post, and Warren took to his TikTok page to say he did not choose another gig in place of Sommo Festival.
In the video, Warren says he asked his team four weeks ago to find some time for him to take off.
He says he’s been touring all year, even doing rehearsals on his birthday, and he wanted a week where he could spend time with his family and see a therapist.
“My team had told me that I’d have to cancel a show or two. And I said, ‘That’s totally fine. I don’t care how much we lose,'” he said.
He says his team talked to the festival and he thought it was handled.
“This was handled so poorly. To P.E.I., I’m sorry,” he said.
“This isn’t some thing where it’s like, ‘Oh, he’s blaming someone else.’ Truly, I had no idea that this was gonna happen, and if that was the case, I would have tried to carve out time somewhere else.”
