An uneasy morning for parents and students of Evergreen Park School in Moncton on Thursday morning.
A hold and secure was put into place after a member of the staff experienced a medical emergency.
It was lifted just before noon.
Moncton Fire, the Hazardous Materials team, Ambulance NB and RCMP were on scene to investigate.
Anglophone East Spokesperson Stephanie Patterson says concern was raised over a powdery substance inside a package.
It turns out it was baking soda inside a Diaper Genie box, which the school had ordered.
Patterson adds that the RCMP are investigating to confirm that baking soda is usually placed in these boxes for freshness.
A hold and secure means students are permitted to move around inside as normal, but no one is permitted to enter or exit the facility.
