A drug‑trafficking investigation in Bass River led to the seizure of a prohibited firearm and suspected drugs, according to the RCMP.
Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Bass River Road on December 8.
Police Dog Services assisted with the operation, along with members of the Richibucto and Elsipogtog detachments.
RCMP reported that officers seized a prohibited firearm, along with quantities of what they believe to be cocaine and oxycodone.
Investigators also said drug‑trafficking paraphernalia was found inside the home.
A 53‑year‑old man from Bass River was arrested during the search.
Police said he was later released and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3, 2026.
The RCMP also noted that the public plays an important role in helping prevent and reduce crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs and firearms.
Police encouraged anyone with information about suspected drug activity to contact their local detachment or reach out anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
