A warehouse, along with all of its contents have been destroyed by fire.
Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Charlie Melanson says the call came in at around 10 o’clock Wednesday night as a fire alarm.
But when they arrived at 2323 Route 134 in Lakeville, they found a warehouse fully engulfed.
Melanson says, they immediately took defensive action, “The goal was to stop the fire from spreading to two buildings at the front of the property, and we were successful. The windows were broken due to the heat from the flames, but the contents inside the other buildings weren’t damaged.”
There was no access to a hydrant, so water had to be brought in with tanker trucks.
Back up from fire departments in Dieppe Shediac, Cap-Pele and Cocagne was also called in.
Melanson says they were on scene most of the night putting out hot spots.
The destroyed building was being used as a storage facility and was full of things like trailers, cars, boats, and snowmobiles.
The other structures are believed to be home to an electrical business.
There’s no word on a cause yet, but fire investigators will be back on scene this morning.
