The Town of Shediac has been growing in population in recent years and is now estimated to have more than 7,200 people according to the mayor.
The 2016 census showed that Shediac had nearly 6,700 residents and numbers from the 2021 census will be released later this year.
Roger Caissie says the town has been attracting people from all over.
“We’re seeing new citizens from around the area moving to Shediac, around the province moving to Shediac but also out-of-province moving to Shediac.”
Caissie thinks the town has room to grow which has been anticipated.
“The town has planned and has always planned for additional traffic and we will be developing further road networks as things go ahead.”
Caissie adds many people think of Shediac as having higher traffic volumes during the summer with vacationers but he says the traffic has been increasing during the winter too.
He believes Shediac continues to offer what people are looking for such as being a seaside community and having great activities year-round.
